The Game of Thrones Film Locations Tour with Tours Ireland gives you the chance to see the world of Westeros in all its natural beauty as we visit 7 of Northern Ireland's main locations used in the hit HBO series.

Our journey begins as we travel up the Antrim Coast Road, travelling through the 9 Glens of Antrim, an area of outstanding natural beauty. As we travel through the stunning scenery of the glens we weave past and take in other well-known parts of Westeros, learning of the areas local history.

As we continue onward towards the premier locations of our tour we stop off at Carnlough Harbour, where, in Season 6, Arya Stark jumps into the freezing water to escape the Waif and crawls up the steps into the streets of Braavos. Then before hitting the North Coast, we drop by the Cushendun Caves where Melisandre's shadow baby was born.

Following a break for a bite to eat at The Fullerton Arms, home to one of the famous Game of Thrones Doors, we'll have a photo stop at Carrick-a-Rede and Larrybane, the site of Renly Baratheon’s Camp.

No tour of Ireland's north coast is complete without stopping off at the Giant's Causeway, the stories of giants and fairies that inhabit this area in Irish mythology are every bit in keeping with the Game of Thrones theme despite no filming of the HBO series taking place here.

Another quick stop before our final location sees us visit the ancient ruins of Dunluce Castle – perched on the edge of the cliffs, this is another fantastic photo opportunity. In the HBO show, Dunluce Castle is transformed into House of Greyjoy, ruler of the Iron Islands.

Finally, we visit the most iconic Game of Thrones locations on our tour, the Dark Hedges, better known as Kings Road in the HBO series. You will get the opportunity to great photos with our cloaks and swords at this location.

Game of Thrones Film Locations Tour Itinerary

Winter Schedule (November-February)

Depart Belfast at 9:00am
Carnlough

Series six saw Carnlough harbour feature for the first time. This harbour although built in the nineteenth century during the famine years, still retains an olde world charm, which meant that it didn't seem out of place when it first appeared in Game of Thrones. Few go swimming in the harbour today, but there was a time when "a girl just might"!

Cushendun

This area has many strong links with the series! It is a stunning coastal location with incredibly rugged yet beautiful geological features! What happened in these Cushendun caves took many committed fans by surprise.  Melisandre's shadow baby was born here and for a while this area was very "dark and full of terrors"

Fullerton Arms

(Lunch stop @ Game of Thrones themed restaurant)

Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge

Guaranteed crossing included on our premium tours, option to upgrade to crossing (small fee payable) on the day of your tour. *Subject to numbers.

This area is one of the most naturally stunning of all the sites used in Northern Ireland. The rope bridge plays a major part in a series characters storyline. Although not compulsory, for those who wish to cross the bridge there is one requirement; courage!

Larrybane

Much has happened in this limestone quarry: Brienne of Tarth defeated Ser Loras of the Flowers, Littlefinger seeks out Catelyn Stark who arrived to negotiate with King Renly. Even Euron, Theon and Yara have made fleeting"appearances!

Giant’s Causeway

Guaranteed Visitors Centre entrance!

The Giant’s Causeway is Northern Ireland's very own "Eighth wonder of the World."  No eloquent description will ever do it justice!  Only seeing it is believing. The Giants and Fairies that inhabit this area in Irish mythology make their Game of Thrones equivalents look more like Darby O'Gill and the little people.

Dunluce Castle

This now-ruined medieval castle was the inspiration for many local fantasy writers! It's cruel past, the enmity between wealthy families and the ruthless resolution of disputes gives Dunluce castle more than a passing resemblance to "the Dreadfort" or "Harrenhal"!  It is an ideal, if somewhat chilling location for a photo stop!  This Ulster Dreadfort has endured turmoil and murder every bit as horrific as any of the castles of Westeros...

Dark Hedges

What a finale, the Dark Hedges! You may have escaped the scheming and duplicity of the capital!  However, escaping by way of the "Kings Road" has its own dangers. Beware the "Grey Lady," for in reality, Melisandre has nothing on her!
